Program “I WILL NOT FORGET MY MEMORY”

The “I WILL NOT FORGET MY MEMORY” Program was started in 2016 and it operated until 2017.

Through the “I WILL NOT FORGET MY MEMORY” Program, more than 370 people were given the ability to examine their memory in their municipality, to become informed in regard to themselves and their families on prevention and treatment methods of dementia.

Over six municipalities of Attica provided a free of charge Memory Check on people over 60 years old, due to “Nestor’s” initiative.

Aim:

The primary aim of the “I WILL NOT FORGET MY MEMORY” Program was to create public awareness regarding memory, its disorders and methods of maintenance, early detection of Alzheimer and other forms of dementia through specialised memory evaluation of the elderly. In cases of a diagnosis of memory issues, a referral was made to the corresponding structures for further investigation.

The “I WILL NOT FORGET MY MEMORY” Program was successfully implemented by “Nestor” Psychogeriatric Association and it was expanded due to its integration into the “Desmos for Youth” by the Non-profit Foundation “Desmos.”

A few words on Desmos:

Since its founding in January 2012 up to today, Desmos, with main offices in Athens and Thessaloniki, has provided to a network of over 516 organisations of social support in Greece, helping over 300.000 short-term and long-term beneficiaries due to the donations of more than 232 companies and hundreds of individuals.

Information on the program “Desmos for Youth”

The “Desmos for Youth” program is the utilisation of means gathered through the Greek Crowdfund campaign in the summer of 2015. Through the “Desmos for Youth” program, Desmos supports 15 charitable organisations in need of human resources, to cover high impact positions by hiring people aged between 18 and 28, for a year. The program’s aim was two-faceted: to provide professional experience to a new generation while simultaneously assisting the work of charitable organisations significantly.
