Occupational therapy groups for patients with Dementia

Occupational Therapy utilises remedial purposeful activities and adjusts the environment and the activity itself. It maintains to the maximum degree functionality and autonomy, reinforcing significant functional life roles and encouraging the person’s participation to all sectors of occupancy (AOT, 2014).

During the course of the occupational therapy groups, purposeful and targeted activities take place, which are adjusted to the level and needs of each patient.

It is the association’s healthcare professionals’ responsibility to divide patients and it is implemented based on cognitive and functional levels and also the presence or absence of behaviour disorders due to the illness.
