Dementia Friendly Communities
Our primary goals are ensuring that all dementia patients are included and can actively participate in their community, the elimination of the stigma attached to dementia and the overall improvement of the quality of life of dementia patients.
Within the framework of the European Initiative ACT on DEMENTIA in which “Nestor” Psychogeriatric Association is a participating partner and the Joint European Actions undertaken for the creation of Dementia Friendly Communities, the Psychogeriatric Association Nestor and the Hellenic Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (H.A.G.G.) have signed Memoranda of Cooperation with the Municipalities of Athens, Vrilissia and Korydallos.
The activities implemented include:
The dementia prevention programs that are currently implemented at the Municipalities include Memory Clinics for the early detection of memory impairment, Caregivers’ School Program and the Cognitive Training Groups.
Important:
The services are offered free of charge to citizens of each Municipality, who face problems relating to the loss of memory.
