Who We Are
“Nestor” Psychogeriatric Association is a nonprofit organisation and it is the largest provider of free services for the elderly in our country today. It was founded in 2001with the main purpose of providing free, specialised and high quality services to the ageing population in dealing with dementia and other psychogeriatric issues that the elderly face.
Nestor’s main area of activity is memory and its disorders.
Important dates:
2002
In 2002 we developed the 1st Psychogeriatric Boarding Home for psychogeriatric patients in Athens.
2004
In 2004 we developed the 2nd Psychogeriatric Boarding Home for psychogeriatric patients in the area of Chalandri.
2004
Τhe Day Centre for Dementia in Saint Eleftherios started its operation.
2005
In 2005 we developed the first specialised and complete Day Centre for Dementia in the country in the Kypseli area, as well as the first Short-stay Inpatient Care Accommodation Facility for Dementia.
2013
In 2013 the Sheltered Apartment in Athens became operational.
2019
In 2019 we opened a Day Centre for dementia in the region of Western Macedonia.
Every action realised under Nestor's guidance, is done so with respect and consideration towards the elderly. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of the patients diagnosed with Alzheimer and other forms of dementia, as well as that of their carers, the elderly with depression, the lonely and to fight the stigma associated with the elder population in our country.
At Nestor:
Over 100 people are employed with over 10 specialisations in different fields
Over 8000 people benefit from the services provided per year
Over 120 people are hosted at our Short-stay Inpatient Care Accommodation Facility for Dementia per year
