On Wednesday, May 10, at 17:30, caregivers and patients who participate in “Cafe Alzheimer” programme will have their last meeting before the summer break. At the same meeting, they will have the opportunity to spend quality time together doing cognitive training exercises.
“Cafe Alzheimer” programme is aimed at patients with dementia and their caregivers. In the framework of the programme, caregivers will have the opportunity to exchange information and experiences in a supportive environment without stigma.
The programme aims to provide psychological support, mutual assistance and reduce social isolation in patients with dementia and their caregivers. Health professionals in various specialties is going to participate in the programme in order to discuss with patients and caregivers and provide guidelines for the disease. In addition, entertaining activities (such as music, recovered-memory therapy, quiz, puzzles etc.) will be held.
The meetings will occur every 15 days at the dining room of the Alzheimer’s Centre of the Psychogeriatric Association “Nestor” (on the 1st floor), at 22 I. Drosopoulou Street in Kypseli.
Responsible person for the programme is the psychiatrist and scientific director of the Psycogeriatric Association “Nestor”, Antonis Mougias and progamme coordinator is the psychologist, Elena Skaltsounaki. The participation in the programme is free.
